Angela Bassett honours surprising star for Black History Month as Tracy Morgan in HILARIOUS Academy Awards sketches

The 88th Annual Academy Awards featured several different hilarious sketches which starred the likes of Angela Bassett, Tracy Morgan, Whoopi Goldberg and even the host himself.

As race and the '#OscarsSoWhite' movement was so big going into the event, each entertaining sketch poked fun at that very issue in a very clever way.
The 57-year-old stunner Angela was featured as a spokesperson in a clip titled 'Black History Month Minute' where it seemed like she was going to honour one of the several talented black actors that had not been not been nominated at the award show.
She said: 'Hello, I'm Angela Bassett. The Academy Of Motion Pictures And Sciences has long acknowledge people of colour. And tonight we honour someone who has shattered barriers with his groundbreaking performances.

Tracy Morgan was another actor featured in a sketch earlier in the night which parodied the deleted scenes featuring black actors from some of the Oscar-nominated films

Saturday Night Live comedienne Leslie Jones was featured in a parody of The Revenant

It's a sweep: The clip began with Jennifer Lawrence filming for Joy as Whoopi Goldberg interrupts the scene

It also featured comedienne Leslie Jones as the bear in The Revenant, Whoopi Goldberg mopping the floor in Joy and Chris as a black astronaut in The Martian.
Another funny segment was one where Chris went to a movie theatre in Compton to interview real life patrons, as there is prominently black community in the Los Angeles city there.
The Top Five actor and director queried a few people on their thoughts about the Oscars controversy, if they were upset, the films up for nominations and even what their acceptance speech would be if they took home the coveted golden trophy.

Kristen Wiig played her own character from the film as she seemed happy to know the black astronaut was alive

One man had a speech that had those in attendance applauding as he said: 'This should be not just white, it should be Asian, Hispanic, there is so much talent out there of all races.'
Chris was left speechless when one woman said: 'You give black actresses more award because they deserve and they work hard for you just like anybody else. How about that America?'
Then the woman thought she could actually take home the Oscar as the host had to grab it back from her at the end of the hilarious three-minute gag.

'How about that America?': The gag ended with Chris telling the interviewees to do a speech like they had won an Oscar as one lady even thought she could actually take the trophy
